Trim, built-ins and custom carpentry.
Baseboard, casing, crown, wainscot, built-ins, closets, mantels and stair parts. Finish carpentry is the trade where speed and quality look identical for about a month.

This is the part of the job people compare quotes on hardest, usually without knowing what is different between them. Here is what actually separates two prices.

Number and size of openings
Ten identical windows cost less per opening than three odd ones. Anything over eight feet takes more crew and more care to set.
- 02
Retrofit or full frame
A retrofit sets the new unit into the existing frame. A full frame replacement takes the old frame out and gets you a properly flashed install, but it touches the siding or stucco around the opening.
- 03
Impact rating
Impact glass costs more than standard and is often what the code requires this close to the water. It also changes the shutter conversation entirely.

What is behind it
If the sill or the framing has rotted, that gets repaired before the new unit goes in. We photograph it and price it before we continue.

Interior finish
A drywall return is cheaper than wood casing. Matching an existing profile on an older house is slower than running new stock.

Door type
A pre-hung single door is straightforward. Doubles, sliders and multi-slide units need a level, square, properly supported opening and often a new header.

Paint condition
Sound paint takes a scuff and a coat. Chalked, peeling or bare wood needs scraping, sanding and priming first, and that prep is most of the labor.

Color change
One color over a similar color covers in fewer passes. Going dark to light, or changing color entirely, adds coats.

Do I need impact windows?
It depends on your address and the wind zone the current code puts it in. We check what applies to your house before quoting rather than assuming.
Can you replace just one window?
Yes. A good share of our window work is a single failed unit or a sliding door that stopped moving.
How long does a window replacement take?
Most homes are one to three days on site once the units are in hand.
Ordering them is the longer wait. Anything not stocked is typically several weeks out, so that is where the schedule really lives.
Will you find rot when you pull the old windows?
Sometimes. This close to the ocean it is common enough that we tell people to expect the possibility.
If we find it, you get photos and a price before we keep going.
Do you paint on its own, or only as part of a remodel?
Both. We paint what we build, and we take standalone interior and exterior painting.
Can you match the trim in an older house?
Usually. Older profiles are often no longer stocked, so we either find the closest match or run it to match the original.
